Veggie St. Pete

We take the guesswork out of finding vegetarian- and veg-friendly dining spots in downtown St. Petersburg

Tijuana Flats January 23, 2012

Filed under: Fast Food,Vegetarian Options — beatlebird @ 8:03 pm

This upbeat, happy-go-lucky and busy Tex-Mex chain eatery features some good veggie-friendly dishes on their menu. Look for the Norrito Bowl – salsa-based rice, topped with black beans, hand-made pico, fresh guacamole & green onions; the fresh salad, packed with rice, beans, and veggies (hold the cheese and sour cream to make it vegan); the ubiquitous chips & guac; and tacos which apparently can be customized with the fillings of your choice.

Beer, wine, and soda available. Happy hour.

Coney Island Sandwich Shop June 10, 2011

Filed under: Fast Food — beatlebird @ 9:18 pm

Vintage (really vintage – like 1928) hole-in-the-wall eatery features, of course, hot dogs and not much else: vegetarians will have to settle for a grilled cheese sandwich, potato chips (Tom’s, served in a bag) and a milkshake, coffee, or soda. Super no-frills, the Coney Island is constantly packed at lunch, so be patient when waiting for a booth or a stool at the lunch counter. Lunch served only.
